Remembrance Day: We Will Remember Them

  • Nov 10
  • 2 min read

Tomorrow, 11 November, the nation pauses to honour the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community, the families who stand beside them, and all civilians affected by conflict. At Tenders Group, we join millions across the UK in an act of remembrance, gratitude and hope for a more peaceful future.

Why Remembrance Day matters

Remembrance Day asks us to remember those who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars and in later conflicts, and to reflect on the cost of freedom. It is a moment to acknowledge courage, mourn loss, and renew our commitment to care for those still living with the impact of war.

How we will observe

  • Two-minute silence at 11:00 on 11 November, across our work and meetings.

  • Poppies worn with pride as a simple, powerful symbol of remembrance.

  • Supporting veterans’ causes through donations and active promotion of services that assist serving personnel, veterans and their families.

What partners and suppliers can do

If you work with public bodies or supply essential services, there are practical, meaningful ways to show respect and support:

  1. Make space for remembrance

Invite teams, sites and client meetings to keep the two-minute silence at 11:00. Add a brief note to internal diaries so everyone can take part.

  2. Support veteran employment

    • Adopt the Armed Forces Covenant and pursue Employer Recognition Scheme awards.

    • Offer guaranteed interviews to suitably qualified ex-forces candidates.

    • Provide mentoring, skills translation and flexible pathways into roles across operations, technology, facilities and care.

  3. Build social value around the forces community

    • Partner with veteran-led SMEs in your supply chain.

    • Fund local wellbeing and resettlement programmes.

    • Track and report outcomes, not just inputs, so impact is clear and lasting.

  4. Design contracts that care

  5. In bids and frameworks, include commitments for mental health support, trauma-informed practice, and rapid access to counselling for staff who are ex-forces or reservists.

Our commitment at Tenders Group

We help clients compete for public sector work with bids that are compliant, compelling and responsible. On Remembrance Day we reaffirm that commitment by:

  • Encouraging measurable social value that benefits veterans and their families.

  • Championing fair and inclusive recruitment for ex-forces personnel.

  • Advising on sustainable supply chains, including veteran-owned businesses.

A quiet moment

At 11:00 tomorrow, we will stand in silence to remember. We invite our clients, partners and friends to join us, wherever you are.
